Alabasters from glass and alabaster

4th c. BC. From Athens, Eretria (the alabaster) and of unknown provenance respectively.

These vessels, containing myrrh, first appeared in archaic times. Apart from clay, such vases were also made of more valuable materials, suitable for the preservation of the sensitive perfumes. They were used to protect the male body from the sun as well as from injuries.
