Marble torso of a male figure
From Daphni, Athens. Around 490 BC.
(ΕΑΜ/ΝΑΜΓ 1605)
The strongly moving figure, with the accentuated plasticity of the musculature, is interpreted as a warrior, who, though defeated, keeps defending himself. The body is falling towards the lost left leg, while turning and strongly bending the upper part to the opposite direction. The figure kneeling on the ground, turned the head to the right and upwards and raised the right hand to fight back.
